&i made these silly shorts
just for him

&im realizing now
(as im uploading these pics)
that i didn't get a snap of his butt in the shorts
(you can see the back in the mirror)
so
i guess that's what we'll be sure to accomplish
whenever he decides to take these shorts out for a spin

i used two 100% cotton fat quarters (the nasa print) for one leg
&about one and a quarter yards of 100% black cotton for the other leg, the lining &waistband
&about a quarter of a yard of 100% purple cotton for the trimmings
*shrug*

ive never made pants bottoms before
&i know these are shorts
but shorts are just ... short pants
*eye-roll*
i simply traced his favorite pair of basketball shorts
&made this janky pattern
of only the legs of the shorts
(waist band/bottom cuff not included)
&then i used my straight &curved rulers
to create smooth lines

there are no drawstring holes
cause i designed my way around creating buttonholes

as far as the pockets are concerned
ive been making pockets for all of my dresses
since the beginning of time

they're also fully lined
cause i have a thing about how all the stupid-fucking seams
OF ALL CLOTHING
are on the INSIDE against the body
which is just so fucking lame

so i will be fully lining everything i make

it's just how ima be!

i do not pattern everything
cause im pulling from decades of random-ass education and experiences
so
im no help to any "beginners" out here
*shrug*
there are other
better people
who can teach you how to sew
i promise.

when i first sewed on the pockets, i accidentally sewed them into the bottom leg holes

lol

but it was an easy fix

cause i just cut them off and added more purple than i had originally planned

&im constantly being amazed by how much further i can go (&faster) now that perfection is no longer my metric.
