the girls of the girl-group speak accent-less english

the boys of the boy-group speak accented english

there are, obviously, a lot of messages wrapped up in this animated film, and depending on who you are, as the viewer, the messages will be different and hit differently

for me, this deliberate distinction between the boys and girls english-speaking being accented and accent-less, respectively, speaks volumes about the creator's point of view, and damn, mad-RESPECT

typically, i would leave my opinion open-ended here, but today, for this issue, i will outright state my interpretation of this subtle, yet absolutely significant decision: women work harder than men

yes, of course, there's the obviously vicious view where the boys sound like foreigners to native-english speaking ears, and the women sound "like us," etc., but the dig is subtler, too, as i'm suggesting; it's a blow to the idea that men are inherently "better" than women; it's a dig at the soul-crushing patriarchy of most asian countries; it's a dig at the obviousness, globally, that women are not only forced to be better than mediocre men to "win" their positions in this life, but also, that women do work harder to be better than all of the mediocre men around us, and we still get nothing, not even respect

my point is, watch out for this Maggie Kang; she's not only a genius, but also
she's a Power Player

i'm also totally loving the white-ass-nerd djs who are eating up the soundtrack for their trance sets *_*
